Introduction:
This is one of traditional sweet recipe in manglore.this is typically made from using jackfruit pieces , coconut , jaggery , few black pepper and little cumin seeds. This is wrapped in flower leaves.
It is not only gave good aroma but also very tasty for eating. This recipe basically prepared at special
occasion in Mangalore.
Ingredients
• 2 cup raw rice (soaked in water for 6 hours
• 1 kg ripen jackfruit pieces
• 5-6 whole black pepper and 1 table spoon of cumin seeds
• 1 cup grated coconut
• ½ cup jaggery
• Salt as per taste
• 25 small flower leaves
Steps for preparation
• After overnight soaked rice washed it properly. After washed , grind rice along with
coconut , jackfruit pieces and whole black pepper , cumin seeds into thick fine paste
( add small amount of water if it gets thin unable to wrapped in leaves so remember it
should be thick paste)
• Once thick paste ready then take flower leaves one by one and takes small portion of thick
paste and spread all over leaves in the middle part then wrapped flower leave.
• You need to repeat the procedure one by one for all flower leaves.
• Once it is ready then take idly pot contains 3 -4 cup of water for steaming and placed over a
gas and once pot became hot placed one by one wrapped flower leaves in it and closes the lid.
• Leave them for 15.-20 minutes.
• After 20 minutes turn off gas and let them cool for 10 minutes.
• Now you can took out lid and took away one by one wrapped flower leaves .here recipe is ready.
